%X En Nueva España, en el transcurso de los siglos XVII y XVIII, el culto hacia san José tiene un éxito tardío pero espectacular. En este texto se analizan las vías de este proceso, los actores y las formas del culto. El autor pone el acento sobre las relaciones entre transformaciones de la sociedad y devociones y propone una interpretación del desfase cronológico que singulariza el caso de Nueva España frente al mundo católico europeo.
%X In New Spain during the 17th and 18th centuries, the cult of Saint Joseph enjoyed a late but spectacular success. The aim of this paper is to analyze the dynamics of this movement, identify its promoters and its forms of worship. By emphasizing the link between the changes in society and the history of devotions, the author proposes an interpretation of the chronological discrepancy that distinguishes the case of New Spain from that of European Catholicism.
