%X Este artículo corresponde a una ponencia en la que se pretendeobservar el patrimonio cultural de la región Centroamericana desdeuna perspectiva comunicacional, a través de dos libros digitalesmultimedia editados en 2015 por la Coordinación Educativa y CulturalCentroamericana del Sistema de Integración Centroamericana(CECC/SICA). Se titulan Entre caobas y flamboyanes y Latidos deltiempo y recogen un compendio de manifestaciones materiales e inmaterialesen sitios arqueológicos, ciudades coloniales y rutas delCorredor Cultural Caribe del área. Su alcance pretende ir muchomás allá de la simple difusión de información: bajo el objetivo inicialde indagar en la ¿otredad¿ centroamericana, los libros persiguencontribuir a la transformación social. En la ponencia se hace unrepaso retrospectivo de la relación entre los conceptos comunicación,cultura y desarrollo y su vínculo a reflexiones contemporáneasque pretenden incorporar enfoques de interacción más dialógicos yhorizontales, como el planteado por el Buen vivir, en el que el patrimoniocultural se convierte en oportunidad y fortaleza.
%X This article is a paper that observes Central America¿s cultural heritagefrom a communications perspective, through two multimedia digitalbooks published in 2015 by the Central American Educationaland Cultural Coordination of Central American Integration System(CECC/SICA). They are titled Entre caobas y flamboyanes and Latidosdel tiempo and collect a compendium of tangible and intangiblemanifestations in archaeological sites, colonial cities and routes fromthe Caribbean Cultural Corridor area. Its scope intended to go much beyond the mere dissemination of information: under the initial goalof investigating Central ¿otherness¿, these books seek to contribute tosocial transformation. The paper takes a retrospective review of the relationshipbetween the concepts of communication, culture and developmentand its relationship with contemporary reflections that aimto incorporate more dialogical and horizontal interaction approaches,such as posed by the Buen vivir, where the cultural heritage becomes anopportunity and strength.
