RT Book, Section T1 Does Family Business Background Matter? Career Decision of Postgraduate Student A1 Cardone-Riportella, Clara A1 Feito-Ruiz, Isabel A1 Urbano, David K1 Family Business Backgraund K1 Carrer Decision of Postgraduate Student AB This paper contributes to the family business and entrepreneurship literature in severalways. Students that belong to a family business have been involved in this situationalenvironment since their childhoods and have specific skills transmitted to them by theirparents. There is also a commitment to the family which may determine their future career, and the future of the family business, if they decide to become successors. The perspective ofstudents without this background could be different. Entrepreneurship is something new, attended by risk. The level of EB in family businesses is discussed ambiguously. Therefore, successors need to be trained to be the creators of new wealth rather than merely guardians ofcreated wealth in the family business (Mitchell et al., 2009).
