%X Hasta el momento, la historiografía dedicada al estudio de la cerámicaen Puerto Rico apenas ha prestado atención a la etapa temprana deJaime Suárez. Se trata, por tanto, de un período muy poco conocidopero crucial para comprender su trayectoria posterior. En él, dejaría aun lado su formación como arquitecto para embarcarse en la creaciónde obras más vinculadas a la producción artesanal puertorriqueña.Reinterpretó, con ese fin, algunas imágenes populares de la isla yaportó una nueva visión de las técnicas usadas por los taínos, aunqueempleando un vocabulario contemporáneo. En estos años iniciales,además, surgiría uno de sus temas fundamentales, el paisaje.
%X So far, historiography devoted to the study of ceramics in Puerto Ricohas barely paid attention to the early stage of Jaime Suá rez. It is thereforea period little known but crucial to understanding his later career.In it, he leaves aside his training as an architect to embark on creatingartifacts more related to the Puerto Rican handicraft production works.He reinterpreted some popular images of the island and brought a newvision of the techniques used by the taínos, although using a contemporaryvocabulary. In these early years emerged two of his fundamental topics,the landscape and seascape.
