AB Neste trabalho pretendemos apresentar algumas contribuições sobre a pro- dução artística de Caetano Luiz de Miranda, pintor e escultor que viveu no Arraial do Tijuco e provavelmente foi discípulo do já conhecido guarda-mor José Soares de Araújo. Pelo inventário post mortem de Miranda pode-se constatar que é um dos raros artistas de que se tem notícia durante o perío- do colonial e início do império a ter em sua biblioteca o tratado Perspectiva Pictorum et Architectorum do jesuíta Andrea Pozzo. As aproximações entre o tratado de Pozzo e a produção de Caetano Luiz de Miranda são evocadas nas estruturas de quadratura para os véus quaresmais (as ¿Sibilas¿) e também no oratório construído pelo artista, exemplos de que nos ocupamos. Com essas observações esperamos inserir o artista nessa rede de circulação de ideias que conectam o fazer artístico entre Europa e o Brasil colonial.
AB In this work, we aim to present some contributions about the artistic production of Caetano Luiz de Miranda, painter and sculptor who lived in Arraial do Tijuco and was a disciple of the regionally well-known artist José Soares de Araújo. Miranda¿s post-mortem inventory shows that he is one of the few artists, during the colonial period and the beginning of the empire, to have in his library the treatise Perspectiva Pictorum et Architectorum, by the Jesuit Andrea Pozzo. We believe the approximations between Pozzo¿s treatise and the artistic production by Caetano Luiz de Miranda are evoked in the quadratura structures for the Lenten veils and also in the oratory built by the artist. With these observations, we hope to insert the artist in this network of circulation of ideas that connected artistic activity between Europe and colonial Brazil.
