AB El objetivo de este artículo es mostrar lo sucedido en tres acontecimientos que tuvieron lugar sucesivamente en los años 1717, 1720 y 1723 en Cuba, pero que resonarían en diferentes plazas de la corona de España a lo largo de todo el periodo colonial. De esta manera, se analizan los motivos por los cuales estallaron estas protestas, cuál fue su balance final y contra quién fueron realmente dirigidas. La compilación y análisis de los documentos encontrados a través de la bibliografía o de la búsqueda en los archivos y su ubicación en el entorno ideológico e histórico son las herramientas metodológicas que han dado sentido y dirección a este trabajo. Este artículo contribuye con una nueva lectura a la visión de disconformidad latente a las medidas reformistas llevadas a cabo por los Borbones en el período colonial en América.  The objective of this article is to provide a comprehensive analysis of the events that took place in Cuba in the years 1717, 1720 and 1723, echoing throughout the Spanish Empire. It examines the reasons behind the vegueros¿ rebellions, their outcome, and in particular, their target. Methodologically, this study is based on the compilation and analysis of primary and secondary sources from private and public archives. Lack of documentary evidence explains the frequent recourse to the work by Leví Marrero, which is examined at length. Arguing that the vegueros¿ rebellions were aimed, not against the monarch, but against the colonial Government¿s representatives in Cuba, this paper contributes new perspectives towards the understanding of anti-monopoly revolts in the Americas.
