AB A partir de la tesis del filósofo español Miguelde Unamuno (1864-1936), según la cual el extremo occidental ¿Portugal¿ y el extremo oriental ¿India¿ se dieron las manos espirituales por vía de la comprensión de la vanidad del mundo (vanitas), presentada en su obra Por tierras de Portugal y España (1911), nos proponemos poner en diálogo las visiones del mundo barroco occidental y del mundo budista oriental sobre la vanidad y la muerte. En este sentido, nuestra reflexión se centrará en el pensamiento del P. António Vieira, como ejemplo capital del pensamiento barroco portugués, y en el Sermón de Benares, como texto fundador del budismo.
AB Based on Miguel de Unamuno's thesis presentedon his work Por tierras de Portugal y España(1911), according to which the Western extremity¿Portugal¿ and the Eastern extremity ¿India¿gave the spiritual hands through the understanding of the vanity of the world, we propose to bring into discussion the visions of the Western Baroque world and the Eastern Buddhist world regarding vanity and death. In this sense, our reflection will focus on thethought of Fr. António Vieira, as a prime exampleof Portuguese Baroque thought, and Sermon atBenares as a founding text of Buddhism.
