AB El presente artículo analiza el derecho a la última palabra como derecho fundamental, directamente conectado al derecho de defensa. Se trata de un mecanismo jurídico que constituye la más viva expresión del principio de autodefensa. Su relevancia radica, de un lado, en su presencia a todos los niveles del ordenamiento jurídico: internacional, constitucional y legal, y de otro, en su profusa aplicación por los tribunales. Tanto el Tribunal Constitucional como el Tribunal Supremo o las Audiencias Provinciales han dedicado numerosas sentencias al análisis de esta institución jurídico-penal.------------------------------------------------------------------This articles analyses the right to have the final say as a fundamental right, directly linked to the right of defence. It is a legal mechanism which constitutes the most vivid expression of the principle of self-defense. Its relevance lies, on the one hand, on, its presence in all levels of the legal system (o legal order) and, on the other hand, on its usual application by courts. The Constitutional Court, as well as the Supreme Court and Provincial Courts have dedicated many judgements to the analysis of this criminal legal institution.
