AB No cabe duda que Bartolomé Esteban Murillomarcó la pintura sevillana de la segunda mitaddel siglo XVII. Su obra fue imitada y copiada infinidad de veces por pintores coetáneos, e incluso por otros después de su muerte. En el presente estudio vamos a abordar las influencias murillescas que se pueden encontrar en la obra de Cornelio Schut. Este pintor flamenco se instaló en la ciudad hispalense desde muy joven y llegó a relacionarse con el genial pintor sevillano. Ambos coincidieron en la Academia de Murillo. No es inverosímil que, a través de la Academia y de la extensión de su obra, Murillo transmitiera ciertos rasgos que se pueden apreciar en los dibujos y pinturas de Schut. Comprobaremos si fue un mero imitador de la obra de Murillo o supo potenciar estos elementos para crear una obra propia y singular.
AB There is no doubt that Bartolomé Esteban Murillomade his mark on Sevillan painting of the secondhalf of the seventeenth century. His work was imitated and copied countless times by his contemporaries, and even by others after his death. In the present study, we will address the influence of Murillo in the work of Cornelio Schut. This Flemish painter settled in the Spanish city at a young age and would become acquainted with the brilliant painter from Seville. They met at Murillo's Academy. It is not unlikely that, through the Academy and the extension of his work, Murillo transmitted certain features that can be seen in the drawings and paintings of Schut. We will verify whether Schut was simply an imitator of Murillo's work or knew how to develop these elements to create a unique work of his own.
