AB Este texto investiga las imágenes imaginantesdel reino de indias de Nueva Granada en generaly del pueblo de indios de Suta en particular, enel valle de Ubaté, en el altiplano cundiboyacensedurante el curso del siglo XVII. Expone el proceso mediante el cual, una población heterogénea y móvil se reforma en una comunidad imaginada. Transformando imágenes prodigiosas, caballerescas y precolombinas, en la memoria del relato de un proceso que explica su lugar como comunidad en el devenir histórico. El lugar de este archivo visual, son las imágenes murales, del templo doctrinero Juan Bautista de Suta. A través de este archivo visual es posible comprender el modo en que una doctrina de indios imaginó, recordó, actuó y narró a través de imágenes, su pertenencia al imperio católico castellano, sus tensiones y relaciones con el gobierno imperial y familias vecinas.
AB This text investigates envisioned images of theKingdom of New Granada during the course ofthe 17th century and, in particular, the Native village of Suta, located in the Ubate valley in theCundiboyacense region. It exposes the process by which a heterogeneous and mobile population transformed into an imagined community; transforming prodigious, chivalrous and pre-Columbian images into a narrative of the process that explains their place as a community in history. This visual archive is located in the mural images of the Juan Bautista de Suta church parish. Through this visual archive it is possible to understand the way in which Nativedoctrine imagined, remembered, acted out, andnarrated their belonging to the Castilian Catholicempire through images, as well as the tensions and relationships between the imperial government and neighboring families.
