AB Una de las construcciones poblanas de mayorempaque arquitectónico y artístico es el convento que levanta la orden franciscana en los límites de la ciudad hacia el año 1532, aunque no será hasta 1585 cuando se dé por concluida la construcción de la iglesia. Dentro de lo que fuera la antigua capilla de la Virgen Conquistadora, encontramos una serie de cuadros que narran la vida del Beato Sebastián de Aparicio. Las pinturas exaltan las virtudes de Fray Sebastián de Aparicio, por lo que es probable que las obras hayan sido realizadas para conmemorar su beatificación ocurrida en 1789, según la obra de Fr. Mateo Ximénez, Compendio della vita del beato Sebastiano d'Apparizio. Entre laspinturas se aprecian características diferentes,intuyéndose la mano de dos pintores, uno de loscuales sería Miguel Jerónimo de Zendejas, quienrealizó hacia 1802 una de estas series.
AB One of Puebla's architectural works of the outmost artistic achievement is the convent built by the Franciscan Order in the city limits around 1532, although it was completed until 1585. Inside of what was the former chapel of the Conqueror Virgin (Virgen Conquistadora), we found a series of paintings that portray the life of Blessed Sebastián de Aparicio. The paintings exalt his virtues hence it is probable that theartwork was made to commemorate his beatification in 1789, according to Fr. Mateo Ximénez's Compendio della vita del beato Sebastiano d'Apparizio. Among the paintings it is possible to appreciate different characteristics,including the talent of two artists, one of whom would be Miguel Jerónimo de Zendejas, whopainted one of those series around 1802.
