AB La novela Mazaltob, escrita en francés por Blanche Bendahan, se publicó en París en 1930. Mazaltob, premiada por la Academia Francesa, retrata a una joven judía norteafricana en Tetuán, Marruecos, y la opresión a la que fue sometida por el régimen patriarcal. La novela fue traducida dos veces al español en 1997 y en 2012; y recientemente (2024) al inglés.Este artículo analiza la relación entre las mujeres y el conocimiento en las comunidades sefardíes del norte de África. A través de su novela, Bendahan revela sus afiliaciones culturales y literarias y combina dos universos de discurso: el francés y el judío.
AB The novel Mazaltob, written in French by Blanche Bendahan, came out in Paris in 1930. Mazaltob, awarded a prize by the Académie Française, portrays a Jew North African young woman in Tetouan, Morocco, and the oppression to which she was subjected by the patriarchal society. The novel was translated twice into Spanish in 1997 and in 2012; and recently (2024) into English.This article analyses the relationship between women and knowledge in the Sephardic communities in North Africa. Through her novel, Bendahan reveals her cultural and literary affiliations and combines two universes of discourse – French and Jewish.
