AB Esta investigação foca as relações artísticas entre Portugal e o Brasil no decorrer do século XVIII. Relações que estão íntimamente associadas à tradição arquitectónica portuguesa, sobretudo ao legado da engenharia militar e ao programa régio de D. João V (1706-1750). Iremos analisar três igrejas que, apesar de erigidas em continentes diferentes, repetem o mesmo modelo arquitectónico: nave octogonal e posição diagonal das torres que flanqueiam a fachada. Qual é a relação artística entre estes três projectos?
AB This research focuses on the artistic relationshipbetween Portugal and Brazil, which took place in the 18th century and is associated with the Portuguese architectural tradition, namely the legacy of military engineering and the royal program of King João V (1706-1750). We will analyze three churches that, although erected in different continents, repeat the same architectural model: the octagonal nave andthe diagonal position of the towers that flank the facade. What is the link between these three projects?
