AB El libro que presentamos se inscribe en una línea de investigación que, lejosde limitarse a la descripción estilística o al inventario patrimonial, proponeuna lectura estructural del fenómeno artístico en la Edad Moderna y en la largaduración de sus derivas. Los capítulos que lo componen, aunque diversos enobjeto y escala, comparten un presupuesto metodológico común: la comprensión del arte como sistema de representación, como dispositivo activo en la construcción de imaginarios sociales, políticos y religiosos. En este sentido, el volumen no debe leerse como una simple agregación de estudios de caso, sino como una constelación de problemas que convergen en torno a tres ejes fundamentales: la articulación entre espacio y poder, la función persuasivade las imágenes y arquitecturas, y la capacidad del arte para codificar —y almismo tiempo tensionar— los discursos ideológicos de su tiempo.
AB The book presented here belongs to a line of research that, far from limiting itself to stylistic description or the cataloging of heritage, proposes a structural reading of the artistic phenomenon in the Early Modern period and across the long duration of its subsequent trajectories. Although diverse in subject matter and scale, the constituent chapters share a common methodological premise: understanding art as a system of representation—an active mechanism in the construction of social, political, and religious imaginaries. In this sense, the volume should not be read merely as a collection of case studies, but rather as a constellation of issues converging around three fundamental axes: the interplay between space and power; the persuasive function of images and architecture; and art’s capacity to encode—while simultaneously challenging—the ideological discourses of its time.
