AB Este artículo examina el enorme esfuerzo realizado por los franciscanos para conseguir la canonización de los 26 cristianos ejecutados en Nagasaki por las autoridades japonesas en 1597. También se analizan los motivos por los que dichas víctimas crearon tantas controversias, situándose el proceso de canonización en el contexto de la intensa competición que existía en la época entre jesuitas y órdenes mendicantes por el control de la misión del Japón.
AB This article studies the great efforts made by the Franciscans in order to achieve the canonization of the twenty six Christians executed by the Japanese authorities at Nagasaki in 1597. It also analyzes the reasons why the Nagasaki victims became so controversial and places the process of canonization in the context of the intense competition that existed at the time between Jesuits and Mendicants for the control of the Japanese mission.
