AB La vida de Catalina de Ribera, perteneciente a la familia Mendoza, se ha visto ligada tradicionalmente a dos importantes obras sevillanas, la fundación del Hospital de las Cinco Llagas y la adquisición y reconstrucción de la Casa de Pilatos, palacio en el que residió su familia desde fines del siglo XV. Sin embargo, la gestión de su importante fortuna una vez que queda viuda, su labor de promoción arquitectónica en otras edificaciones y la posesión de una incipiente colección de obras de arte, la convierten en un personaje a tener en cuenta en el final de la edad media en Sevilla.---------------------------------------------------------------------Catalina de Ribera's life, of the Mendoza family that was so tightly tied to the patronage practice, has been traditionally linked to two important Sevillan works, the founding of the Hospital de las Cinco Llagas (Cinco Llagas Hospital) and the acquisition and reconstruction of the Casa de Pilatos (Pilatos' House), a palace where her family lived as of the late fifteenth century. However, the management of her large fortune once she became a widow, her work in architectural promotion in support of other buildings and the ownership of an incipient art collection make her a notable personality at the end of middle Ages in Sevilla.
