Abstract
In this study, we sought to identify the children who drop out of school in order to enter the world of work at an early age, and the lack of reach and effectiveness of public policies for access to and permanence in school. Therefore, we aimed to highlight the Brazilian and northeastern child, especially in Rio Grande do Norte and Maranhão, who is denied the right to education, thus becoming a form of child vulnerability and violence. We conclude that the vulnerability of Brazilian and Northeastern children is constituted, among other factors, by the need for children to work at an early age and their consequent absence from school. This form of violence against children should be the object of greater responsibility on the part of the state in improving public policies for access and permanence in education.
