Abstract
This study revolves around the instrumentalisationof a judicial process to indict a series of individuals in some reales minerosin the north of New Spain for their alleged support of the enemy in the war against France in 1809. The investigation of the case showed that these accusations were false and were part of a previous local confrontational dynamic between those who reportedand those who are reported. Therefore, it is possible to evaluate some aspects related to the use of false information, inspired by the political culture of that time, and the recourse to the authorities to deal with conflicts between individuals, as well as the constitution of disruptive profiles of the order during the years of the crisis of the Spanish Monarchy.
