Abstract
This paper consists on an approach to the studies about antique coinage related to the army of the Roman Republic in the Iberian Peninsula, specially focusing on Sertorius war. At this point, an important issue is found, the “sertorian reasures”. Recent studies about Sertorian concealments and the mints attributed to it have led to discard several of these “treasures” as they belong to a moment before or after the conflict. This leads us to wonder if Sertorius really minted coins for war. This text addresses two of the fundamental elements analyzed in the work from which they come: the mints and the concealments that are attributed to Sertorio. To this, various aspects related to the financing of the Roman army must be added, being able to provide a different perspective to what was thought up to now.
