Abstract
Extensive and ongoing fieldwork on 17th Century Lima sculpture has borne fruit, leading to the proposal to attribute several images to Diego Agnes de Calvi, a Corsican sculptor in Lima. Based on formal, stylistic, and comparative analysis, as well as documentary and historical evidence, we believe that a sculptural group of the Holy Family, a high relief of the Trinity, and eight free-standing sculptures with various iconographies may be by his hand. An attempt is also made to characterize the aesthetic influence of this artist from the vast Italian sphere. This significantly expands and enriches the sculptural panorama of the Viceroyalty of Peru, with its capital at its forefront.
