Dioses, Mitos, Templos, Símbolos: El universo religioso de los huicholes

Abstract

Esta investigación tiene por objetivo el estudio de la religión de los huicholes. Para ello se realiza un análisis de su mitología, su geografía sagrada, sus centros ceremoniales y sus símbolos partiendo de la idea conforme a la cual existe una ontología huichol caracterizada por el animismo y la ausencia del principio de no contradicción. Se propone, finalmente, que la religión huichol es una forma de entender, ordenar y sentir la realidad, un `instrumento¿ que es necesario poner en práctica para mantener en armonía al mundo. The objective of this research is to study the religion amongst the Huichol people. In order to do so, it analyses their mythology, sacred geography, ceremonial centers as well as their symbols from the viewpoint that there is a Huichol ontology that is characterized by animism and the absence of the principle of non-contradiction. Finally, it further suggests to look at the Huichol religion as a means of understanding, organizing and perceiving reality, and also as an `instrument¿ that needs putting into practice so that the world¿s harmony is maintained.
