Abstract
Most of the political elites begin their careers during their youth, generally by joining some of the youth organizations linked to the different political parties. The aim of this article is to analyse whether the Socialist Youth of Spain (JSE) has a distinctive weight within the executives of the Spanish Socialists Workers’ Party (PSOE), and whether it can be configured as an internal group. For this purpose, on the one hand, we will study the presence of young people who have formed part of this body since 2000, as well as their profiles. On the other hand, we will also analyse the members of the different executive bodies that have been part of the JSE at some point in their careers. In this way, we will show that the representation of youth has not improved significantly during the period in the case under review.
