Abstract
The analysis of private collections is a relevant issue to advance knowledge of Lima's viceregal painting and to perceive the progressive assimilation of modernist aesthetics, whose language was an unequivocal sign of class amongst the elite. Thus, through the revision of unpublished manuscript sources, this essay tries to establish an overview of the presence of European paintings in households from Lima during the eighteenth century.
