Abstract
Costa Rica fue, al considerar el arte contemporáneo, un foco de atracción y difusión durante los 15 años de transición entre el siglo XX y XXI. Esa proyección regional e internacional de artistas y curadores parece haberse ralentizado con el cambio de foco a Panamá o Guatemala. Este trabajo recoge una serie de conversaciones con artistas, curadores y otros agentes del sistema de las artes, en las que reflexionamos sobre la situación del arte durante el período 2008-2016. Este estudio no es un análisis estilístico ni crítico, pretende ser una evaluación historiográfica de un período de tiempo concreto a través de los relatos directos de sus protagonistas.
Costa Rica was, when considering contemporary art, a spotlight of attraction and diffusion during the 15 years of transition between the twentieth and twenty-first century. That regional and international projection of artists and curators seems to have slowed down with the shifting of the spotlight to Panama or Guatemala. This work collects a series of conversations with artists, curators, and other agents of the system of the arts, in which we reflect upon the situation of art during the 2008-2016 period. This study isn’t a stylistic nor a critical analysis, it aims to be a historiographical evaluation of a concrete period of time through the direct accounts of its protagonists.
