Abstract
This article offers a critical social perspective on the ‘Macro Study: Trafficking, Sexual Exploitation and Prostitution of Women: A Quantitative Approach’ published by the Ministry of Equality (2024), based on analysis of data from advertisements for sexual services using AI (Artificial Intelligence) and elevating its results to scientific knowledge. From a critical stance and with a gender perspective, we have attempted to show that this study is not presented as an approximation, a version of the diverse reality of prostitution, but as a solid, reliable and valid construction despite being built on assumptions that are not indicative of rigour, plausibility and scientific commitment. We analyse epistemological, methodological and ethical aspects to demonstrate the critical position adopted and propose other ways of approaching this reality.
