La huella indeleble Portugueses en la Sevilla del barroco

Abstract

La conexión de Sevilla con Lisboa fue intensa, tal como las fuentes lo han contado, pero no por ello fueron menos importantes los flujos económicos y culturales entre la ciudad del Guadalquivir y otros enclaves tras de la ‘raya’. No pocos estudios se han ocupado de significar esta realidad histórica1. Al igual que el papel jugado por la nación portuguesa en nuestra ciudad, cuando las familias de esa procedencia tomaron aquí carta de naturaleza. Y se hicieron notar en el medio urbano, con la ocupación de viviendas en propiedad, adaptadas a sus usos y costumbres, tanto como en la apropiación de espacios sacros para cultos y enterramientos familiares.

Seville’s connection with Lisbon was intense, as the sources tell us, but the economic and cultural flows between the city on the Guadalquivir and other enclaves behind the ‘raya’ were no less important. Many studies have been carried out to highlight this historical reality. As well as the role played by the Portuguese nation in our city, when families of Portuguese origin took up residence here. And they made their presence felt in the urban environment, with the occupation of property dwellings, adapted to their uses and customs, as well as in the appropriation of sacred spaces for worship and family burials.
