«Lorena» (2021) de María Fernanda Ampuero: la voz de la superviviente de violencia sexual en la literatura contemporánea.

Abstract

En la intersección entre la literatura y la justicia social, el relato desde la perspectiva de la superviviente emerge como una poderosa herramienta de reflexión y conciencia pública. Este estudio analiza el relato «Lorena» (2021) de María Fernanda Ampuero, que da voz a Lorena Gallo, conocida como Lorena Bobbit. La narrativa mediática sobre el crimen que cometió Lorena en los años 90 no capturó su experiencia completa, subestimando la violencia de género y sexual subyacente. Al otorgarle Ampuero voz a Lorena, se desafía el silencio impuesto por la sociedad y se reclama un espacio para que las supervivientes cuenten sus propias historias, reafirmando su humanidad y reivindicando su autonomía. Se emprenderá, por ende, un análisis del texto de María Fernanda Ampuero, una relectura de corte político-feminista del crimen, con dos propósitos primordiales. En primer término, se busca discernir las dinámicas de género y poder que coartaron el relato de la protagonista real en la década de 1990. En segundo lugar, se examina la voz de la protagonista en el relato de Ampuero para determinar hasta qué punto la Lorena ficticia desafía los estereotipos y prejuicios arraigados en torno a la Lorena real. Se recalca, por consiguiente, la relevancia del relato de la superviviente de violencia sexual, lo cual no solo brinda una oportunidad para validar diversas experiencias frente a la narrativa hegemónica, sino que también sitúa a la literatura como parte de la necesaria conversación que la sociedad debe mantener sobre las agresiones sexuales y la violencia de género.

At the intersection between literature and social justice, storytelling from the perspective of the survivor emerges as a powerful tool for reflection and public awareness. This study analyses the short story «Lorena» (2021) by María Fernanda Ampuero, which gives voice to Lorena Gallo, known as Lorena Bobbit. The media narrative about Lorena's crime in the 1990s did not capture her full experience, underestimating the underlying gendered and sexual violence. By giving Lorena a voice, Ampuero challenges the silence imposed by society and reclaims a space for survivors to tell their own stories, reaffirming their humanity and reclaiming their autonomy. We will therefore undertake an analysis of María Fernanda Ampuero's text, a political-feminist re-reading of the crime, for two main purposes. First, it seeks to discern the gender and power dynamics that constrained the story of the real protagonist in the 1990s. Secondly, the voice of the protagonist in Ampuero's account is examined to determine the extent to which the fictional Lorena challenges the stereotypes and prejudices ingrained around the real Lorena. The relevance of the survivor's account of sexual violence is thus emphasised, which not only provides an opportunity to validate diverse experiences against the hegemonic narrative, but also situates literature as part of the necessary conversation that society must have about sexual assault and gender-based violence.
