Abstract
The city of Lisbon, with its geophysical specificity and its peculiar morphology, became, after the Atlantic and Eastern expansion, a port of collection for merchandise coming from all over the world. To optimise the storage of goods and organise the merchants’ work, the city underwent important urban interventions. Our work intends to present the documentation on the urban development of this important port city em the 16th century and the first half of the 17th century, together with documentation confirming the presence of numerous foreign merchants.
