LaIlustración en la construcción de obras arquitectónicas del siglo XIX camagüeyano, hacia un bien común

Abstract

El movimiento cultural europeo conocido como la Ilustración y su expresión estética: el neoclasicismo, se transmite a todos los ámbitos de la cultura, entre ellos la arquitectura. Este estilo ejerce su influencia en Cuba y en espe- cífico, en la otrora Villa Santa María del Puerto del Príncipe, en la actualidad, Camagüey, todo ello enfocado hacia la búsqueda de un bien común. Teniendo en consideración la importancia de esta temática y su influencia en la reafirmación de los estudios identitarios, unido a la existencia de insuficiencias en relación a su conocimiento y divulgación; el trabajo pretende explicar la influencia del pensamiento de la Ilustración en la construcción de obras arquitectónicas del siglo XIX camagüeyano y su incidencia en el desarrollo del bien común. Se utiliza como método fundamental el hermenéutico, al trabajar con documentos originales del siglo XIX cubano.

The European cultural movement known as the Enlightenment and its aesthetic expression: neoclassicism, is transmitted to all areas of culture, including architecture. This style exerts its influence in Cuba and specifically, in the former Villa Santa María del Puerto del Príncipe, currently, Camagüey. Hence, the present study refers to one patrimonial work in that city: the first penitentiary center of the Camagüey territory. Taking into consideration the importance of this topic and its influence on the reaffirmation of identity studies, together with the existence of inadequacies in relation to their knowledge and dissemination, this work aims to explain the influence of the thought of the Enlightenment in the construction of architectural works 19th century Camaguey. The hermeneutic is used as a fundamental method, working with original documents from the 19th century.
