Abstract
In 1750, Infanta María Antonia Fernanda, daughter of Felipe V and sister of the future Carlos III of Bourbon and Infante Felipe, Duke of Parma, resided in Barcelona for a few days. The reason for their stay was their trip to Italy ¿more specifically, to Turin¿ for a meeting with Victor Amadeo, Duke of Savoy, with whom an arranged marriage had been contracted. The brilliant parties thrown for the Infanta between May 3 and 5 are evidence of the growth and development that the Catalan economy and society was experiencing at the time, and of the improvement of its political environment compared to previous periods. Assumed and organized by the Marquis de la Mina, Captain General of Catalonia from 1749, the city celebrated the Infanta's visit with a great display of its means.
