Abstract
Adolescence is a stage characterized by significant physical, emotional, and social changes, during which habits are acquired and consolidated that may influence health in the future. In this context, the present research aims to analyze adolescents´ perception of health and holistic well-being, as well as to explore whether their lifestyle habits align with a healthy lifestyle. The study is based on a biopsychosocial approach, which integrates biological, psychological, and social factors. Therefore, Health Education, together with Social Education, focuses on promoting well-being and preventing risk situations. Methodologically, this research adopts an exploratory and descriptive design, using a mixed- methods approach that combines quantitative and qualitative techniques to provide a comprehensive understanding of the studied reality. Data collection is carried out through questionnaires administered to students in the 2nd year of compulsory secondary education and the 2nd year of upper secondary education, as well as semi-structured interviews conducted with teachers who teach these courses. The selected educational center is Salesianos María Auxiliadora School in Mérida, which allows the analysis of the collected data to be contextualized. The expected results aim to provide a deeper understanding of the relationship between adolescents´ subjective perception of health and their lifestyle habits, enabling the identification of factors influencing the adoption of healthy behaviors. Thus, the knowledge generated seeks to contribute to the design of socio-educational interventions adapted to the real needs of the studied group, promoting healthy habits and greater awareness of self-care.
