Abstract
This study aimed to examine the relationship between resilience, dispositional optimism and academic engagement dimensions (i.e., vigor, dedication and absorption). A sample of college students attending the Faculty of Education in León University was evaluated. The Spanish version of the instruments 10-item Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale, Life Orientation Test Revised and Utrecht Work Engagement Scale-Student were employed. The results indicated that resilience was related to optimism and to academic engagement dimensions. However, optimism was not related to academic engagement dimensions. Besides, resilience predicted vigor, dedication and absorption. Finally, the results were discussed to promote engagement in future educators.
