Abstract
In some recent publications has been pointed out the presence in the houses of Italica of a singular element of the classical architecture, the so-called "Rhodyan peristyle" due to a passage of Vitruvius. In this work we try to collect all the known examples of this type of columnaded court, to study its origin and development in order to be able to explain its use in Italica and determining if is a common element or however we are faced with a conscious election in a very specific historical moment.
