Pintura flamenca del siglo XVI en el Museo de Bellas Artes de Sevilla

Abstract

El Museo de Bellas Artes de Sevilla conserva un nutrido y valioso conjunto de pintura flamenca del siglo XVI, reunido a partir de los procesos desamortizadores de 1835 y 1869 y por posteriores adquisiciones y donaciones. La colección manifiesta el gusto e interés por esta escuela cuya presencia en la ciudad se produjo gracias a la importación de pinturas de estos maestros por parte de instituciones religiosas y de particulares. En su mayoría son obras de autor anónimo, que por sus características de estilo se adscriben a talleres o círculos de artistas como Adriaen Isenbrandt, Vincent Sellaer, Pieter Coecke o Gerad David, entre otros. Entre las firmadas aparecen los nombres de Marcellus Coffermans, Frans Francken I, Marten de Vos y Lucas Cranach el Viejo.

The Museum of Fine Arts of Seville houses a substantial and valuable collection of 16th-century Flemish paintings, assembled following the confiscations of church property in 1835 and 1869 and through subsequent acquisitions and donations. The collection reflects the appreciation and interest in this school, whose presence in the city was facilitated by the importation of paintings by these masters by religious institutions and private individuals. The majority of the works are by anonymous artists, but their stylistic characteristics suggest they belong to the workshops or circles of artists such as Adriaen Isenbrandt, Vincent Sellaer, Pieter Coecke, and Gerard David, among others.
