Abstract
Addressing the challenge of declaring Doñana and its surroundings as a Heritage Zone means recognizing that it is a territory made up of multiple heritage realities. Although it is precisely one of its chief virtues, this characteristic entails an added complexity, as it requires the alignment of diverse administrative contexts, resulting from heterogeneous competence sectors and divergent municipal interests in the face of a common issue. Consequently, the object of this work is to identify, from the field of heritage preservation, urban planning and sustainable territorial management, some of the keys that have motivated the aforementioned heterogeneity. This knowledge would allow in the future advancing towards a necessary harmonization of criteria, social and institutional, especially concerning the preservation, management and enhancement of the same ecological region whose relevance transcends its limits to acquire an international dimension.
