Abstract

El objeto de este trabajo es el de contribuir a reforzar una revisión crítica y social que aporte más información a la importante desvinculación que experimentó el deporte español con el movimiento deportivo internacional iniciado por Pierre de Coubertin en 1894 hasta la primera participación oficial de España en unos Juegos Olímpicos: Amberes 1920. Una revisión de los últimos estudios y la aparición de nuevas fuentes primarias ponen al descubierto las contradicciones y las cuestiones sociopolíticas y territoriales de la España finisecular y el movimiento regeneracionista de principios del siglo XX. The aim of this work is to contribute to the strengthening of a critical and social review that brings more information to the major break that Spanish sport experienced with the international sports movement set up by Pierre de Coubertin in 1894 until Spain¿s first participation in the Olympic Games in Antwerp in 1920. A review of the latest studies and the appearance of new sources reveal the contradictions and socio-political and territorial questions in Spain at the turn of the century and the regenerationlist movement of the beginning of the twentieth century.
