Abstract
Despite the importance of its natural heritage, the surroundings of Doñana stand out for being the target of an intense occupation by humans since prehistory due to the many resources that could be found in the territory. These resources have modified and altered the area over the centuries. Thus, in this area are located settlements from prehistoric times focused on different activities: the production of lithic tools, on the extraction and transformation of fishery products, functioning already in the Roman period, and industrial activities from the medieval and modern period. Moreover, in this area can also be found an Almohad settlement with unknown functionality for the time being. All this will form the ecosystem that defines the Park in the present and it could not be fully understood without its historical-archaeological context.
