Abstract

The fragmented style of the narrative is highlighted, as well as the paradoxical transfiguration of its protagonist, who begins to perceive reality through the lens of Russian literature. The fiction is grounded in a constant interplay of texts. In his quixotic journey, the character develops an aesthetic and existential strategy. The introduction of fragments from Russian literature, as well as the numerous references to the biographies of authors that permeate the novel, interrupt and fragment the narrative. This dispersion is integrated into a framework—the project of a journey to space—which serves as the novel's organizing and argumentative principle.
