"Escribir, batallar y morir en las penunbras". Florencio Del Mármol, de la revolución mitrista a la Guerra del Pacífico, 1874-1880

Abstract

Este artículo se propone trazar la trayectoria de Florencio Del Mármol (1851-1881), autor de las Noticias y documentos sobre la revolución de 1874 y miembro de las fuerzas revolucionarias del mitrismo durante aquella protesta armada. Un joven revolucionario, militar y escritor desconocido en la historia pública posterior, a quien más tarde, en 1879, hallamos combatiendo como voluntario en las fuerzas bolivianas durante la Guerra del Pacífico. En 1880 publicaría un libro sobre su reciente experiencia guerrera, tan sólo unos meses antes de morir en Buenos Aires en 1881. Este artículo se propone examinar esos escritos inexplorados, junto a otras fuentes del periodo que contienen datos sobre la breve e intensa trayectoria del autor. El enfoque biográfico propuesto se encuadra en una perspectiva que aborda la trayectoria de los actores e instituciones que han concurrido a transformar la dinámica de las relaciones entre el Estado nacional, las provincias y otros agentes de la sociedad argentina durante la segunda mitad del siglo XIX.

This article intends to trace the trajectory of Florencio Del Mármol (1851-1881), author of the News and documents on the 1874 revolution and member of the revolutionary forces during that armed protest. A young revolutionary, soldier and writer unknown inlater public history, whom we find in 1879 fighting as a volunteer in the Bolivian forces during the War of the Pacific. In 1880 he published a book about his recent war experience and died in Buenos Aires a few months later. This article intends to examine those unexplored writings, together with other sources of the period that account for the brief and intense career of the author. The proposed biographical study is framed in a perspective that addresses the trajectory of the actors and institutions that have concurred to transform the dynamics of relations between the national State, the provinces and other agents of Argentine society during the second half of the 19th century.
