La etapa española de Milada Šindlerová (1875-1941) y el fenómeno de las diletantes.

Abstract

Este artículo se centra en la etapa española de Milada Šindlerová, pintora y dinamizadora cultural checa cuya estancia en el país ha sido fragmentariamente tratada hasta ahora, presentándose de forma inédita un estudio más completo de los años españoles y de la artista y su producción. Simultáneamente se trata, si bien brevemente, el fenómeno de la concepción de las mujeres artistas como meras diletantes o aficionadas y el alcance del estatus de artistas profesionales derivado del establecimiento en España de numerosas creadoras extranjeras tras del estallido de la Primera Guerra Mundial. La presencia de estas artistas –entre las que encontramos a Milada Šindlerová– en los circuitos culturales nacionales fue fundamental para la progresiva integración y aceptación de las artistas españolas en los mismos.

This article focuses on the Spanish period of Milada Šindlerová, a Czech painter and cultural dynamizer whose stay in the country has been fragmentarily treated so far, thus presenting a never-before-published, more extensive study of the Spanish years and of the artist and her production. Simultaneously, we briefly treat the phenomenon of the conception of women artists as mere dilettantes or amateurs and the achievement of the status of professional artists derived from the establishment in Spain of numerous foreign female creators after the outbreak of World War I: the presence of these artists –among which we can find Milada Šindlerová– in the national cultural circuits was fundamental for the progressive integration and acceptance of Spanish artists in these circuits.
