LA VEGA DE GRANADA Y SUS ESTABLECIMIENTOS RURALES ROMANOS: NUEVOS DATOS SOBRE LA ZONA RESIDENCIAL DE LA VILLA DE GABIA

Abstract

En este trabajo se presenta un estudio de conjunto de los materiales decorativos de la parsurbana de la villa romana de Gabia (Granada). La floreciente actividad económica llevadaa cabo en el recinto, documentada desde época flavia, permitió en las últimas décadas del siglo IV desarrollar paralelamente una serie de obras de remodelación decorativa en la zona doméstica señorial. De este conjunto se incluyen nuevas conclusiones del opus sectile parietal, pero sobre todo, se aportan datos de materiales que habían permanecido inéditos hasta el momento, y que estudiados en conjunto dibujan de forma muy representativa la dinámica de las últimas producciones musivas y pictóricas de la Vega de Granada.---------------------------------------------------------------------------This research aims to present a global survey of the mosaic and wall-painting decorations located in the roman villa of Gabia (Granada). The thriving activities carried out in the rural estate from the Flavian period contributed to develop some renovations in the domestic decoration, either with mosaics and wall-paintings. In this article we include new conclusions about the wall opus sectile, but especially are provided new materials which had remained unpublished and unknown until now. Focusing on a global analysis of these kind of decorations we aim to shed light to the dynamic of the latest mosaic and wall-painting productions in Granada.
