Abstract
This paper analyzes some aspects of my doctoral research dedicated to the theoretic argumentation and imagined cartography of the festivities in New Spain in the 16th and 17th centuries. I present a first draft of a map that contains actions, processional routes and marches corresponding to the celebration of the baptism of the Martín Cortés children and the reception of the viceroys, as well as the commemorations dedicated to San Hipólito. These commemorations are an example of the considerable powers of the artistic production and performative developments manifesting the union of material and mental images. These interconnections transformedthe city into a big stage, showcasing the ideological thinking of its residents, as an aesthetic space between the political and social.
