At the end of The Odyssey, Penelope’s maids are murdered by Telemachus, acting on the orders of Odysseus. After millennia of silence, in this theatrical rewriting of The Odyssey the deceased maids demand justice, succeeding in bringing about a peculiar trial in Hades. The author, the work and various characters from the Homeric epic will appear before the judges of the Underworld. The audience will act as the jury, called upon to deliver their verdict, subjecting the testimonies to their critical judgement with the help of the goddess Athena. This volume presents the play alongside a teaching guide for educational use.
