Resistencias y negociaciones durante el 'general alzamiento' en el valle Calchaquí Una aproximación desde las cartas del gobernador Albornoz y otras fuentes (1630-1637)

Abstract

Entre los siglos XVI y XVII los pueblos que habitaron los valles calchaquíes ofrecieron resistencia al avance español durante 130 años, período en el cual existieron diversas coyunturas de conflicto. Entre los años 1630-1643 se produjo el segundo alzamiento que coincidió, en parte, con la gestión del gobernador Don Felipe de Albornoz (1627-1637). En este trabajo se presenta una reconstrucción de distintos episodios durante dicho alzamiento para indagar en la dialéctica entre la expansión del orden colonial y las diversas respuestas de resistencias y negociaciones que ofrecieron los pueblos que habitaron la región. Para tal fin, nos proponemos analizar las cartas del gobernador Albornoz dirigidas al rey y al presidente de la Real Audiencia de Charcas, así como también otras fuentes localizadas en distintos repositorios que complementan la información.

Between the 16th and 17th centuries the peoples who inhabited the Calchaquí valleys offered resistance to the Spanish advance for 130 years, a period in which there were various junctures of conflict. Between the years 1630-1643, the second uprising occurred which coincided, in part, with the administration of the governor Don Felipe de Albornoz (1627-1637). This paper presents a reconstruction of different episodes during this uprising to investigate the dialectic between the expansion of the colonial order and the various responses of resistance and negotiations offered by the peoples who inhabited the region. To this end, we propose to analyze the letters of governor Albornoz addressed to the king and the president of the Royal Audience of Charcas, as well as other sources located in different repositories that complement the information.
