Amor y temor a Dios y el rey: la infidencia en Zacatecas, 1808-1813

Abstract

La crisis monárquica que inicio con la abdicación del Fernando VII en 1808 evidenció las relaciones de fidelidad entre el monarca y sus súbditos, así como los temores por la traición. De igual manera dio pie a un ambiente de animadversión entre españoles y americanos, estos últimos criticaban que los primeros no defendieron la monarquía frente al ejército francés; en estas lógicas se dio el levantamiento insurgente de Hidalgo. El cual fue visto por las autoridades como un acto de alta traición que había que juzgar y castigar. Desde las Juntas de Seguridad y Requisición se buscaba reponer el orden y los derechos del soberano, para lo cual hizo uso del amor y temor a Dios y el rey para identificar al infidente. Los expedientes que se actuaron y siguieron permiten rescatar los discursos alrededor del amor y temor que recuperaron tanto las autoridades como los acusados y sus defensores para identificar o exonerar la infidencia.

The monarchical crisis that began with the abdication of Ferdinand VII in 1808 evidenced the relations of fidelity between the monarch and his subjects, as well as the fears of betrayal. It also gave rise to an atmosphere of animosity between Spaniards and Americans, the latter criticizing that the former did not defend the monarchy against the French army; it was in this context that Hidalgo’s insurgent uprising took place. Which was seen by the authorities as an act of high treason that had to be judged and punished. The Juntas de Seguridad y Requisición sought to restore order and the rights of the sovereign, making use of love and fear of God and the king to identify the offender. The files that were acted upon and followed allow us to rescue the discourses around love and fear that were recovered both by the authorities and the accused and their defenders to identify or exonerate the infidence.
