Pablo Legot y su actividad en Utrera (Sevilla): dos nuevos trabajos para la parroquia de Santiago en 1630.

Abstract

En 1630 Bernardo de Miranda, mayordomo de la fábrica parroquial de Santiago de Utrera, encargaba a Pablo Legot dos nuevos trabajos para esta iglesia. El primero de ellos se trataba de la parte baja del retablo mayor (banco, sotabanco y sagrario) y, el segundo, de una custodia que el clero de la parroquia ya poseía para el Jueves Santo. En cuanto a este segundo encargo, el artista debía llevar a cabo su restauración y adorno con nuevos elementos decorativos. Sin embargo, el descontento que Bernardo de Miranda mostró por el resultado de los trabajos y el excesivo precio que pretendía cobrar Pablo Legot, motivó el inicio de un pleito entre ambas partes. El mayordomo de fábrica se negaría a pagar en un principio al artista, mientras que este no renunció a cobrar el trabajo realizado para esta parroquia.In 1630 Bernardo de Miranda, steward of the parish church of Santiago de Utrera, commissioned Pablo Legot to carry out two new works for the church. The first was for the lower part of the main altarpiece (bench, sotabanco and tabernacle) and the second for a monstrance that the clergy of the parish already had for Holy Thursday. As for this second commission, the artist was to restore it and adorn it with new decorative elements. However, Bernardo de Miranda’s dissatisfaction with the result of the work and the excessive price that Pablo Legot wanted to charge led to a lawsuit between the two parties. The steward of the parish church initially refused to pay the artist, while the latter did not refuse to collect the debt of the work done for the parish church.
