Abstract
In this article, we address the study of the life and work of one of the most important engravers in Mexico City in the mid-18th century: Baltasar Troncoso ySotomayor. In accordance to the documentation we reviewed, we know that he was originally from Galicia (Spain), although, he exercised his profession in Mexico City between 1743 and 1761. An important part of his production was destined to enhance the books of Jesuits authors, which brings into light that he was especially linked to the Society of Jesus. In addition, he kept in close contact with some of the great New Spain painters of the time, such as Miguel Cabrera.
