Abstract

It highlights how instructors combine physical techniques, mental approaches, and a quest for meaning, often from a self-improvement perspective that transcends the physical dimension. The study, based on interviews and observations, examines teachers' discourses and practices to understand how they experience and convey this spiritual dimension, while acknowledging the complexity and sometimes discretion of this aspect in their teaching. Ultimately, the article emphasizes the importance of considering the spiritual dimension to fully understand the rise and significance of yoga in the West.
