Abstract
O sucesso da Perspectiva pictorum et architectorum (de agora em avante: o
Tratado) de Andrea Pozzo, SI (1642-1709), é atestada não apenas pelas numerosas edições romanas que se sucedem desde 1700, mas, posteriormente, pelas traduções para as principais línguas europeias e também para o chinês. Neste texto vou tentar dar conta desta extraordinária difusão e oferecer algumas motivações através de um compêndio das minhas pesquisas precedentes. Ao mesmo tempo, pretendo oferecer ao leitor um panorama dos estudos mais recentes sobre a difusão do tratado de Pozzo e sua influência na arte e na arquitetura do mundo colonial português.
The success of the Perspectiva pictorum et architectorum (from now on: the Treatise) by Andrea Pozzo, SI (1642-1709), is attested not only by the numerous Roman editions that follow one another since 1700, but, subsequently, by the translations into the main European languages as well as Chinese. In this text I will try to describe this extraordinary diffusion and offer some motivations through a compendium of my previous research. At the same time, I intend to offer the reader an overview of the most recent studies on the dissemination of Pozzo’s treatise and its influence on the art and architecture of the Portuguese colonial world.
