Abstract
Barrismo, understood as a passionate and organized form of support for sports teams, has received little attention from the perspective of sport psy-chology. This article presents a systematic literature review using the PRIS-MA protocol to analyze how the phenomenon has been studied within this field. A search was conducted in Scopus and EBSCO databases for articles published between 2018 and 2023. The findings reveal a significant gap in the academic literature regarding the relationship between sport psychol-ogy and fandom. Most studies have focused on social or political aspects, overlooking the emotional, motivational, and cognitive dynamics that affect both athletes and fans. It is concluded that fandom is a key component of the sports environment that deserves more research attention, particularly to understand its impact on athletic performance, collective identity, and emotion regulation.
